Contemporary Addition That Respects a 19th‑Century Facade
This alteration and additions project on an iconic, heritage‑listed Victorian‑era residence, originally built in 1880 for businessman Alfred Harston, has been one of our most challenging yet rewarding undertakings.
We preserved the street‑facing elevation and the building’s distinctive character while introducing a carefully scaled, modern addition constructed from materials that deliberately contrast with the original heritage fabric. By embracing this contrast rather than disguising it, the design celebrates the dialogue between old and new, revealing the beauty in their difference.
